Impact Ministries
Offering relief and restoration through relationships.
Homeless
While our society often stereotypes the homeless as “beggars” or “bums”, they are almost always victims of the same circumstances that affect many of us and those we love (reduced job opportunities, lack of affordable housing, domestic violence, mental illness, and addiction disorders). Each year approximately 3.5 million people experience homelessness in America. 39%, of them are children, with 45% of those children are under the age of 5. Chattanooga is estimated to have over 4,000 homeless with over 1,000 homeless children enrolled in public schools. Connecting with the homeless requires no special skills. Treating them like you’d treat anyone else is what they want more than anything else!

Elderly
Elderly people greatly appreciate your time and what you do for them. You can learn from their experiences. They have a wealth of knowledge to share and lots of time to share it with you. We will be volunteering at a local assisted living center where half of the residents have either lost a spouse or have transitioned into assisted living within the past year. This is a scary, often lonely, time and they just want someone to listen to them. Your visit could be the highlight of someone’s day/week/month!

Cancer Care
There is something very humbling about visiting those undergoing chemotherapy. It reminds you that cancer does not discriminate and things in our lives can change at any moment. You leave feeling reminded of how much we have to hold on to and be thankful for. You will also find that you just helped bring a smile to someone who may be encountering their last days, or someone ready to finish treatment, but still needs a little encouragement to keep going. All you need is the smile on your face to make a difference!
First Tuesday of the month
Tennessee Oncology (downtown Chattanooga)

What We Do

Children
While we want to make a big impact outside our church community, the most immediate place is where we meet each Sunday! Ooltewah Elementary School has been a gracious host and we want to thank them for all they’ve provided to us. We want to be a blessing to both the students and the teachers who lend us their space and make our church home possible!
